Why I Finally Wrote This Book…

Austin, TX

One of the more frequent questions I am asked, after writing this book, is ‘Why did you decide to write this book?’ and ‘Why now?’

Initially my response was long hesitations with clumsy, awkwardly pasted together thoughts…I was not prepared for this, the most obvious of questions.

I took the question with me and did what I always do, process.  Yes, I am one of those that needs time to think and process till the answer reveals itself, as it finally did…and this why I chose to write the book, and why I chose to write it now.

For as long as I can remember, when I have told my story, which finds its way into conversation by the general question when you are meeting new people of, ‘Where are you from?’

 My answer was Greece.

Causing the next question ‘You were born in Greece?’…and it goes from there.

One question leads to another and after sharing my story, always, there is the comment ‘You should write a book; or this would make a great movie.’

Over the years I have heard that again and again, dismissing   it as a being polite response…although, secretly, over the years I tried to write it down, but it never came together in my mind or on the paper.

Until now…
